Holy Week Important Information

Dear OCIA/OCIC Community,

We are about to enter Holy Week, the culmination of the Lenten Season and the beginning of new life for many. Below are the important events and dates that will take place in the next two weeks that candidates, sponsors, and parents will want to put on their calendars.

  • ALL 2nd year students in OCIC will be receiving their Sacraments in Easter Vigil



Important Dates

April 11, Friday—Stations of the Cross—6:00PM—The Main Church—All Students and Sponsors


April 11, Friday—Fish Fry—Right after Stations of the Cross—The Church Hall, Bldg. C.—Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. (Optional)


April 12, Saturday—First Confessions—2:00PM—The Main Church—Candidates for First Communion/Confirmation and their sponsors. The

Elect, those that are going to be baptized do not participate. The format and the Act of Contrition Prayer will be posted on the St. Mathew/My OCIA Website. 


April 13, Sunday—Palm Sunday Mass—10:00AM—All the elect and candidates, sponsors and parents- Marks the first day of Holy Week and the last Sunday before Easter. It commemorates the triumphant arrival of Jesus to Jerusalem. 


April 13, Sunday—Mini-Retreat—11:15AM-1:00PM – Starts

at the conclusion of Mass – The Church Hall, Bldg. C.—All the Elect, Candidates, Sponsors and Parents. Children are welcome. Snacks will be provided. Those that would like to bring a snack to add to the table are welcome. 


Holy Week

April 17—Holy Thursday—7:00PM Mass—Washing of the Feet—Main Church—The Elect, Candidates, Sponsors and Parents


April 18—Good Friday— No Mass on Good Friday, but will have Prayer Services —10:00AM—12:00PM—3:00PM—4:00PM—Most of the OCIA/OCIC family will be attending the 3:00PM services, however, feel free to attend the service that will accommodate your family’s schedule.


April 19—Saturday, 10:00AM—Anointing of the Catechumens—Main Church—All the Elect and Candidates, Sponsors and Parents. Everyone will meet at 9:45AM at the Sacred Heart room at the Parish for preparation and rehearsal and then will move to the pews at the Church for a ceremony of anointing. 


April 19—Saturday—11:00AM-12:00PM—Rehearsal for the Easter Vigil immediately following the Anointing of Catechumens—All the Elect, Candidates and Sponsors. 


April 19—7:00PMThe Easter Vigil–The Elect will receive Baptism, Holy Communion, and Confirmation. Candidates will receive Holy Communion and Confirmation.

Reminder:  ALL 2nd Year OCIC Students WILL receive their Sacraments at the Vigil.
